There are 590 students and over 50 classified & certified team members. Fernley Elementary is the only Reading First school of the District’s 8 elementary schools. * A large number of families in the area are considered to be lower socio-economic status. * Almost 50% of the students attending Fernley Elementary School are receiving free or reduced lunch. * Approximately 12% of the students attending Fernley Elementary School have limited proficiency in English. * The transiency rate at Fernley Elementary School is 30 %, compared to 22% for the district. * Fernley Elementary is a High technology school – all 5th and most 4th grade students have a laptop assigned to them where they do the majority of their work. * Enrollment continues to steadily increase each year.
