Dyer Elementary is located in Fish Lake Valley which is approximately 44 miles long. The valley is bordered on the west by the White Mountains and on the east by the Silver Peak Mountains. It is located halfway between Las Vegas and Reno in Esmeralda County. There are approximately 34 students who are taught by three classroom teachers, one Reading First aid, and one Title I aid. Dyer is one of three Reading First schools in Esmeralda County School District. Approximately 28% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches. 56.3% of the studentbody is Hispanic, and 12.5% is American Indian. The transiency rate runs approximately 67.3% compared to the district average of 59.7%. The major industry in Dyer is agriculture.
