Reading First Level II Academies (draft version):

Academy Format:

Level II Academies can vary from a one day event to a three day event, and may have on-going features. They are static/fluid, meaning that there are several formats but each format is somewhat static to its purpose, function, and structure. They include national expert presentations and content-focused workshops.

Academy's Focus:

• Experience an additional perspective on a literacy issue.
• Go deeper into knowledge, pedagogy, and connection of literacy instruction issues, such as specific components of literacy instruction, uses and analysis of assessments, or strategies for struggling students.
• Evaluate what is working and what is not, and make informed decisions for progress.

Each participant receives:

• A Nevada Reading First Level II Academy resource booklet
• Relevant resources related to the specific Academy topic Useful and relevant methodology for immediate application
