Level III (mini grants)

The Nevada Department of Education is pleased to offer the Nevada Reading First Level III Reading Academy subgrant application, for 2007-08. These competitive subgrant awards have been made available to Nevada through the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) which provides support activities that include professional development for K-3 teachers, K-12 special education teachers, and ELL teachers.

All teachers (from Reading First and non-Reading First schools) who have attended a Level I Reading Academy are eligible to submit proposals. Level III Academies are usually small professional learning communities and funding will range from $1,500 to $3,000. However, broad-based proposals with a higher budget will be considered if the professional development in the proposal meets the criteria of the Nevada Reading First grant and a cost/benefit analysis. Awards will be granted for a 6 month period, unless the timeline within the proposal stipulates a longer period of time (up to 24 months). Deadline for submitting subgrant applications is November 9, 2007.

The Nevada Reading First Management team is available to assist you in any way through the grant writing and submission process. Or, you may contact Connie Poulton at cpoulton@doe.nv.gov or (775) 687-9152.
